Alex Descends Into Hell For A Bottle Of Milk/Korova 1

  1. Marcus Dunne (http://www.bright.net/~mldunne) has on Where The Site Has No Name the lyrics for this song listed as:

Dies irae, dies illa / Tuba mirum spagrens sonum / Descendit in inferno...

    which means in Latin,

That day of wrath, that day / The trumpets wonderous calls, sounding abroad / He descends into Hell...

This is a variation on the Latin Requiem Mass, of which the "Dies Irae" is a principal part.

  2. In the book and film A Clockwork Orange, Alex is a young man whose primary interests are rape, ultra-violence, and Beethoven. One of his favorite hangouts is the Korova Milkbar. He is eventually arrested and put through an experimental treatment to cure him of his violent urges.

  3. U2 actually wrote this song for the Royal Shakespeare Company's stage show of 'A Clockwork Orange'. They did most, if not all, of the score for the production.
